We discovered Robins Nest when visiting India to source ethically donated hair to be used for cancer patients. We wanted to find a deserving charity project that could empower individuals. Orphaned children, living below the poverty line, with no hope of a future without help was the most obvious one.
<H5> Our long term aim is to donate a percentage of sales to help this project, in recognition that the hair is donated in India.
<H5> We have also created the tools they need to campaign for themselves by sharing our time and skills to create this website and Facebook page Robins Nest can connect to the rest of the world.

<H3> ABOUT SLUM VILLAGES & ROBIN’S NEST
<H5> Despite the economic growth in India – In Delhi, the number of poor below the poverty line has nearly doubled in just over five years from 1.2 million in 1999/00 to 2.3 million in 2004/05 (Government of Delhi, 2008). The 2001 Census provisionally showed that the slum population in Delhi was approximately 1.9 million, which is around 22% of the total population (Government of Delhi, 2006).
<H5> There is a crucial part of India slums that is both sad and tough for parents to go through. Adults and families all over do not have what they need to support their children with, and many children and infants are dying. Children that do not die in the slums have to go through pretty much hell every day in piles and piles of garbage. Conditions in the slums are not satisfactory to human needs and cannot be tolerated, parents need help and children need to stop dying.
<H5> Considering the above, what Robin’s Nest has already achieved, without any external funding, is all the more remarkable. It was created by Mr.Harry Singh (senior), who was a slum orphan himself as a teenager. He decided not just to help himself but to try and help others by providing shelter, care and education. There are 12 orphans at Robin’s Nest. They are hoping to open a slum school that can take not just their orphans but 50 children who are unable to go to school because they are below the poverty line, orphans or semi-orphans. Girls are equally encouraged to attend and have the same equal opportunities as boys in education, which is not always the case.
<H5> The school is located in the rural area of a village Rewati Ka Nagla, Malpura, District – Agra State- U.P. (India). Close to The Taj Mahal
<H5> “Our primary goal is to develop the children in the field of education, practical skills, training programmes, art and creativity and also the principles of orphan care, which can be passed down to a new generation. Primary education is a need of all children but many children in India can’t go to school because of poverty. More than 50% of village slum people cannot send their children to school because of poverty.
