For the love of Siri and Google maps, kiss those radio frequencies goodbye. Thus, commence the all night snuggle sessions and all day sun bathing spells cued to a beach playlist on Spotify. Sunscreen is prohibited, of course. And for old time’s sake, let me sit back on the 405, roll down the window, and inhale deeply in peace knowing for the first time the true beauty of the crusty, brittle flavored air produced by Los Angeles parking-lot traffic.
• <H6> At the age of 20, time and people promised me the world and I had the bones to believe it.
• <H6> But they said it was cancer, spelled out how I was months away from gifting my soul to a heaven, and explained a new language called my blood is trying to kill me.
• <H6> Indeed, this was a shock of a lifetime.
• <H6> My health had never entered the sentence as a problem, only appeared as a necessary ‘checkbox and sign here’ routine to renew my seat at a desk across a professor and allow adventures across countries and mountains, languages and rivers.
• <H6> It was only a year ago I found a passion for videography and helped establish a TEDx conference on university soil.
• <H6> And it was two years since taking time on in places like Costa Rica and Italy while learning how to dog-sled in Canada and how to make corner-crisp beds at a yoga retreat center in Hawai’i. Previous to that, pimples, homework, and lemonade.
• <H6> Today, I’m two chemotherapy rounds too late to pretend the doctor walked into the wrong room. I’m 97.5% too bald and my melanin coloring, at times, too pale to ignore my diagnosis. My body called for a state of emergency, and until further notice my first kiss is my last, college is postponed, and salads are off-limits.  (It’s a cancer-low microbial diet-young adult milestone thing.)
• <H6> I’ve returned to the place I was born. Now, I’m told death should stay in my periphery not only because life is precious but also because it’s leukemia. Acute myeloid leukemia. Quick. Abnormal. A cancer of the white blood cells. The locals call it AML. And yet, I am unusually rich and alive in the most meaningful of ways. I’m two decades full of celebrations and tears, sunsets and fireworks, music, memories, and the universal smile of treats-ice-cream. I’ve got a family to hug, friends to appreciate, food to share, knowledge to learn, and an opportunity to give my life away in service of awakening possibility.
• <H6> My life is on track to being a life well lived, but there is so much more to become and create while breath continues to make that loud, constant beeping cadence on the likes of an EKG.
• <H6> So, when you don’t know your next move, want to give up on humanity and facebook, fall asleep stressed, hunger for better food, and altogether have no idea why you’re here…
• <H6> 
• <H6> Everyone wakes up with pain. By this truth everyone should also wake up inspired to restore love back into his or her life and their community – perhaps even the world.
• <H6> At the heart of the matter, this is about choices to create a pulse your life can breathe to. These days my choices run blood deep as I wouldn’t be here without the gift of donors, those who volunteer their own blood to save a somebody – a stranger like me.
• <H6> Turns out the power of saving a life, saves lives. All I can think about is how to pass the gift forward. And ultimately, this site and my life is a response. I want the chain of gratitude to continue and unite so that the confidence of human kindness courses through, removing any clots that prevent love from restoring order to our lives.
